No
matter what injuries you’ve sustained in your accident, you may be
able to claim compensation.
You may have suffered an accident, or been a victim of negligence
and be unsure about whether or not you should claim for
compensation. In fact, most of the people who seek compensation do
so reluctantly. Going through a compensation case can take many
months and you have to be sure that you are ready and willing to
proceed with your case and see it through to the end.
You don’t have to have suffered traumatic injuries, or specific
injuries to have a successful compensation claim. General injuries
that affect your quality of life, or prevent you from working for a
period of time are still eligible as part of a compensation case
and if you have suffered an accident or incident at work, on the
roads or because of the negligence of others, you could have a
strong case.
To ascertain whether you could go ahead with a case based on your
general injuries, you need to contact a compensation solicitor.
Choose one that is regulated by the Law Society, as this give you
peace of mind that your solicitor is properly qualified and has
been checked by the Society as a reputable practitioner. Do some
research on the compensation solicitors you are considering so that
you know their track record, the amount of time they spend on cases
and whether they always see them through to a conclusion.
When you first visit your solicitor, you will need to show or give
evidence about the general injuries you have sustained. If you are
seeing your compensation solicitor shortly after the event then
your injuries may be obvious whereas if you have waited some time
before seeing your solicitor, you may need to present a medical
report or photographic evidence that shows your injuries at the
time of the accident. Your solicitor may ask you to see an
independent doctor to assess your condition and this will help to
decide whether your case is worth pursuing.
If you have suffered general injuries as a result of an accident,
then contact our compensation solicitor for advice on how to make a
case for a financial award.
